When you’re recovering from recent surgery or illness, it is often a difficult and taxing effort to seek medical treatment outside of the home setting. This is where we come in. The nursing staff at Home Assist work in collaboration with your treating physician and provide the medical care you need, in the comfort of your own home. From medication teaching and post-surgical treatment to wound care or new ostomy teaching, the Home Assist nurses have you covered. Our goal is to teach the patient and caregiver how to manage their condition at home. We also want to help them remain independent and keep them out of the hospital. The physical therapy team at Home Assist specializes in improving physical strength, balance, and mobility, reducing pain and restoring the function of patients’ in the comfort of their own home. That’s right, we come to you! A common side effect to a recent hospitalization or illness is muscle weakness. Many patients leave the hospital feeling physically weak. Our team of therapists will be an excellent resource in providing a safe and successful recovery. At your first visit, they will customize a physical therapy program specific to your needs. From bathing and dressing to excellent motor skills such as dialing a phone number or holding utensils, our therapists at Home Assist work hard at recovering the skills needed to live life more independently. At your first visit, an occupational therapist (OT) will first assess your abilities, desired activities, and home environment. Do you or your loved one struggle with word finding or trouble swallowing? The speech therapists at Home Assist can help! They travel to the patient’s home to assess and treat speech and language concerns as well as memory and swallowing difficulties. Our therapy team believes the care provided in the home setting allows for a more individualized, one-on-one interaction, in an environment where the patient feels most comfortable. From helping patients’ obtain transportation services to learning how to get their medications and medical care at a cheaper cost, our MSW’s provide an invaluable resource to both the patients and staff at Home Assist. We have a team of registered dietitians who visit the homes of patients to address their diet and healthcare needs specifically. Some studies show that 40% of older adults are not getting the adequate nutrients needed. Diet and nutrition play a crucial role in those disease and illness recovery. Private Duty / Caregiving
