Home Assist Accredited by the Joint Commission

Home Assist announced today that it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with the organization’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety for in-home care. The accreditation recognizes Home Assist’s dedication to continuous compliance with the Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.

Home Assist completed a rigorous standards process that included an on-site survey in which a team of surveyors evaluated compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership, clinical excellence, and medication management. Established in 1988, the Joint Commission’s Home Care Accreditation Program Standards address a home care organization’s performance in specific areas, and specify requirements to ensure that patient care and services are provided in a safe manner. The Joint Commission develops its standards in consultation with healthcare experts, providers, and researchers, as well as measurement experts, purchasers, and consumers.

“In achieving Joint Commission accreditation, Home Assist has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients,” says Margherita Labson, R.N., executive director of Home Care Accreditation for The Joint Commission. “Accreditation is a voluntary process and I commend Home Assist, its management, and its clinical personnel in successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”

“As a growing organization, we are proud to attain Joint Commission accreditation as it represents our commitment and significant investment in quality on a day-to-day basis from the top down,” said Home Assist Director Scott Seabaugh. “Joint Commission accreditation provides us a framework to take our organization to the next level, and helps create a culture of excellence as we strive for continual improvement in the care we provide. We bring a fresh approach to home care that focuses on each patient’s holistic needs through quality assessment, care planning, and delivery of clinical excellence to keep our patients living safely and independently in their homes.”
